Zack Ali visits Open House with Felicity Buchan Minister for Homelessness and Rough Sleeping
Felicity Buchan, Member of Parliament for Kensington and Minister in the Department of Levelling up, along with Cllr Zack Ali, parliamentary candidate for Crawley, visited Open House Crawley.
The visit was an opportunity to see the great work Open House do in supporting people who are suffering the effects of homelessness in Crawley. Felicity Buchan MP, the minister responsible for Homelessness and Rough Sleeping, was able to learn more about the work of the charity and get a good understanding of the specific issues around homelessness in Crawley.
Crawley Open House provides support and services for those suffering the effects of homelessness, unemployment, loneliness, discrimination, or other forms of social exclusion. They were established in 1982 and offer both residential and day services to those in need. With 24 bed-spaces for street homeless clients and a day centre where those in need can get help with a range of things from employability and life skills to healthcare and resettlement as part of the wrap-around care Open House offer.
Felicity Buchan MP said – “It was a fantastic opportunity to meet the leadership of Open House and hear more about their great work and the ways they are improving the life’s of people facing homelessness in Crawley.
This is a great example of local government working hand-in-hand with the homelessness sector and its partners in locally to rise to the challenges we face to help people sleeping rough. It can happen to anyone and that is why places like Open House are so important.”
Cllr Zack Ali said – “It was good to be back at Open House Crawley and see the ongoing work they are doing for the area. West Sussex County Councill work closely with partners like Open House to help and support people who are facing the challenges of homelessness in the area."
